303 Second

San Francisco, California

303 Second Street occupies an entire block of San Francisco's rapidly developing southern financial district. To reposition the building and attract retail tenants, Gensler opened up the two lobbies with new glazing and adjoining outdoor seating, partly protected by a glass canopy. The building's south-facing plaza serves as a neighborhood gathering place. The redesign lowered an existing fountain and added a trellis, sculptures and bench-lined lawns to unify and activate the space as a flourishing social heart of the district's anchor building.
