Gensler Seattle

Seattle, Washington

Having grown rapidly, Gensler’s Seattle office had to expand to provide additional space, and the renovation presented an opportunity to experiment with designing a workplace for a diverse group of creatives. Three main objectives framed the project: depart from typical formal office design; celebrate the firm’s uniquely “scrappy” work process; and, accommodate a range of workstyles. The project team created distinct zones to achieve these goals, ranging from the highly visible LAB at the office entrance, to the tucked-away charrette/pin-up space BLUR, to the meeting pods of SHARE. While providing for workplace mobility and flexibility, the resulting design conveys the office’s studio spirit and the experimentation of makers and builders.
