Kleinman Center for Energy Policy

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Within the storied context of its iconic building, the new Kleinman Center for Energy Policy is designed to catalyze leading minds around the study of energy policy. The design enhances the building’s defining terra cotta and glass aesthetic while Introducing a new layer of nearly invisible interventions that address the historic building’s poor lighting and lack of acoustical control, air conditioning, A/V or technology. The project’s central feature is the luminous “Energy Forum,” conceived as a public gathering place following in a rich tradition of collaborative and innovative thinkingand in the same space that once served as Louis Kahn’s teaching studio.
